ImmuMethy is a web database on DNA methylation at single-cytosine resolution for human blood and immune cells. The data sets are derived from the Human Methylation450 (over 32,000 samples) and MethylationEPIC (over 4,000 samples) BeadChips platforms. Methylation level or intensity of each methylation site in blood samples and immune cells is evaluated by beta value, which is the ratio of the methylated probe signal intensity and the overall intensity.


ImmuMethy supports requests using gene symbol (or alias), methylation site ID and chromosome position. The query results can be downloaded in Microsoft Excel file format to show beta values that are either from data submitters or uniformly processed and normalized in the current study.


Beta values provide a global view of methylation status and intensity across samples. In addition, through the link "Show" in the query page for uniformly processed data sets, methylation profiles displayed by r-beta (rounded beta value) curves illustrate methylation plasticity to show dynamic changes in DNA methylation. Differential methylation, particularly, with large difference in beta values, can be also analyzed. Other applications, such as methylation tendency analysis based on beta value distribution, sample subdivision or stratification based on highly plastic methylation sites, an evaluation of genetic polymorphisms, and the analysis of transcription factors predicted to bind methylated DNA, can be done through ImmuMethy.
